A GRAND SLAM FOR SOUTH CAPE
PORCH Initiative will host an Inaugural Grand Slam Fundraiser led by Curtis Granderson, a former MLB outfielder. Curtis will conduct a fitness sports clinic for South Cape youth. Fundraising dollars will provide housing, education, and wellness initiatives for youth and their families in the South Cape Community.
Fitness Sports Clinic
9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Participants: Up to 125 school-aged youth from 7 to 17 years of age
Spectators: Youth and their families, sponsors, volunteers, and stakeholders
Lunch: (1 p.m. - 2 p.m.) for both participants and spectators

ABOUT CURTIS GRANDERSON
A former MLB outfielder, Curtis Granderson is considered one of the most philanthropic athletes in professional sports. The three-time MLB All-Star and Roberto Clemente Award winner is also the founder of the Grand Kids Foundation (est. 2007) which aids in positive youth development through education, physical fitness, and nutrition initiatives. In addition, the organization's annual food insecurity campaign, Grand Giving, has helped supply over 35 million meals to families in need.
The University of Illinois at Chicago alumnus personally donated $5 Million to develop Curtis Granderson Stadium at UIC in 2014, which provides thousands of inner-city kids the opportunity to play baseball on a college campus via the Chicago Baseball & Educational Academy - a Grand Kids Foundation partner. In 2020, Curtis retired after 16 years in MLB and currently serves as the President of The Players Alliance, a non-profit comprised of 150 Black MLB players united to create increased opportunities for the Black community in the game of professional baseball. He is excited to continue his work diversifying the sport, paving the way for more young kids to learn and grow through baseball.
